Senior Producer

Investigative Studios is seeking a Senior Producer with a stellar track record of producing independent documentaries and/or series. This position requires significant experience in the documentary film space and the ability to bring projects from early development through to production and distribution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing ideas for new projects in coordination with Investigative Studios team
  • Pitching works in progress or in development to potential distribution partners
  • Creating and managing production schedule and budget for each project
  • Hiring key crew and talent as projects progress into production
  • Planning interviews and shoots, including leading team on set
  • Guiding stories through production process, including working with editor
  • Developing partnerships with production companies and others to bring projects to completion

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years as a documentary producer, including understanding of the documentary landscape and key players
  • Existing network of contacts within the documentary industry
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple creative projects at once
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills, expert written and verbal communication
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Willingness to travel, as needed

Investigative Reporter/Producer

Investigative Studios is seeking an Investigative Reporter/Producer to work on a documentary series currently in production. This position requires experience in reporting and researching, as well as experience developing stories for video or film.

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching, writing, editing and producing investigative stories
  • Using sources, documents and other journalistic tools to create briefs and reports
  • Working closing with Investigative Studios President Lowell Bergman to identify and develop new sources and contacts
  • Tracking ongoing news coverage related to the project

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience as a news reporter and/or producer and strong journalistic skills
  • Experience producing investigations for video or fil
  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to quickly research and learn a subject or story
  • Strong computer research skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Expert written and verbal communication
  • Team player with ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Part-time Business Manager

Investigative Studios is seeking a Business Manager to run the day-to-day operations of the company. This position requires experience in finance and operations, especially related to film production.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing company finances, including P&L and balance sheet
  • Managing payment of invoices and expense reports for production teams and contractors
  • Working directly with producers to ensure they meet budget and schedule obligations
  • Serving as the main point of contact for the company with legal, accounting, insurance and banking teams
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements for nonprofit organizations
  • Managing communication and outreach to Board of Directors, including organizing meeting agendas and follow up
  • Managing company website and external communications
  • Tracking all donations from organizations and individuals and communicating with donors on funding and reporting
  • Creating new policies and procedures as needed for staff and team
  • Working with management to hire new staff, overseeing job postings and recruiting
  • Occasionally managing specific projects and agreements related to productions

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting, comfortable with number and budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
