Our Mission

To rouse the most dynamic lever of change,
a well-informed public.

Investigative Studios advances the mission of investigative journalism by producing, funding, and fiscally sponsoring compelling, objective, and high-quality documentary films, podcasts, and books. We go beyond the headlines to reveal truth, amplify voices that need to be heard, and challenge distorted narratives and disinformation with facts.

Every production upholds the core principles of nonpartisan investigative reporting. Our work is grounded in rigorous research and reporting, meticulous fact-checking, and a commitment to presenting all sides of a story with fairness, historical context, and factual integrity.

Investigative Studios is not beholden to any ideology, interest group, or type of funder; we maintain full transparency about all significant contributors. Our productions are intended for broad public audiences and are aired on major platforms.

We fiscally sponsor producers who need help with tax-exempt fundraising and invest in the next generation of investigative filmmakers through targeted grants and workshops. Our grantees and fiscal sponsorees gain financial support, mentorship from seasoned advisors and editors, and access to our broad network of professionals across the private and public sectors.

Democracy does not defend itself.
